History |

Brewmaster was started in 1971 in San Leandro California. Jim and Georgia Weathers started a small store, originally on Davis Street. They started importing malt extract from Australia (at the time they sold "both" types of malt extract, light and dark), and became one of the very first homebrewing wholesale suppliers in North America, long before homebrewing was legal. In 1988 Tom Baird purchased the company just as they were moving to a larger warehouse on Marina Blvd. Tom expanded the wholesale operations and installed the company's first computerized inventory program. Under Tom the wholesale business expanded to all 50 states as well as several countries. Brewmaster expanded selection by importing products from England, Italy, Japan, China, and more. In 2016 Brewmaster merged with the wholesaler Fermentap to offer the largest selection of wholesale homebrewing and winemaking supplies available anywhwere. We now operate on both coasts with warehouses in California and Pennsylvannia. |
